New Dodos Album Available Now For $2.99 At Amazon MP3
The brand new record from San Francisco indie folk trio The Dodos — a sprawling, Phil Ek-produced leap forward called Time To Die — is available digitally today, only at Amazon MP3 for the unspeakably low price of $2.99! After the album (originally slated for a September 15th release) leaked onto the web earlier this month, band members Meric Long and Logan Kroeber decided to take matters into their own hands. So they launched TimeToDie.net, a conscience-soothing corner for anti-leakers, where fans were granted access to a totally free, high quality stream of the album, and where the band announced their intensions to bump the digital release date all the way up to today (note: physical ain’t budging). Now, fans can get their hands on a legal download for an almost illegal price. Hard to argue with a deal like this, but those who miss out can still grab the record (sans discount) when Time To Die becomes available at all other digital retailers next Tuesday.

New Orleans indie pop duo Generationals released their debut LP, Con Law, this week via Park The Van Records. The album – a bouquet of brass-y soul, synth pop bounce and straight forward indie pop – is currently streaming in full at AOL Spinner. Filter Magazine lauds the record for spanning “five generations of music, channeling everything from Tom Petty to Roxy Music,” while Pitchfork praises the duo for sounding “bright and enraptured in life’s simple joys.” Currently, bandleaders Ted Joyner and Grant Widmer are taking this genre-jumping, sunshine-y show on the road, supporting Con Law with a tour that stretches into next month and beyond, and finds labelmate Floating Action coming along for the ride. This summer the ascendant indie poppers have already shared stages with Bowerbirds and Plants and Animals, and have fast accumulated spins on stations like KCRW, WXPN, and KEXP.
