The Wolfmen Release Sinéad O’Connor Collaboration “Jackie, Is It My Birthday?”

Last week marked the release of The Wolfmen’s long-awaited single, “Jackie, Is It My Birthday?” featuring a brilliant vocal performance by Sinéad O’Connor duetting with Chris. The single is taken from the band’s upcoming sophomore LP, Married To The Eiffel Tower, which will hit stores later this year via the band’s own Howl label.

The Wolfmen are Marco Pirroni and Chris Constantinou, who have been working together since late 2005.  If you’re not already familiar with them from their collaborations with The Slits, Daler Mehndi, Lou Reed, Primal Scream and of course Sinéad O’Connor (Marco played on Mandinka and Jump In The River, and Chris and Marco have been co-writing and recording Sinéad’s next album with her since earlier this year), you may remember their past lives as Ants – in the band Adam & The Ants, of course.

Married To The Eiffel Tower is the Steve Musters-produced follow up to their debut album, Modernity Killed Every Night, which garnered accolades for catchy singles like “Cecilie,” “Jackie Says” and their tastefully poppy cover of Brian Eno’s “Needle In The Camel’s Eye,” which is featured in Vertigo Films’ Brit flick “Dogging,” to be released later this year.  The Wolfmen also recorded the video for “Cecilie” on the air with six models from Britain’s Next Top Model in 2007, and the band was heavily promoted on the show (their episode coincidentally becoming the first UK reality show to air in the US).

APP IN HAND - Joan Sebastian’s New Album Hits Mobile Platforms

Joan Sebastian’s album “Pegadito Al Corazón” (Musart/Balboa) has set a few mobile music milestones.

It’s available for streaming on one of the first iPhone apps by a regional Mexican artist. It marks the first time Sebastian’s recordings are available through a mobile platform in Mexico. And it represents the debut of music from digital distributor the Orchard on the dominant Mexican mobile carrier Telcel.

“Pegadito Al Corazón” came out on iTunes Aug. 18, a week before its physical release. In addition, Sebastian’s JS Radio iPhone app will allow consumers to stream 50 songs from the artist’s catalog, as well as the new album, for $1.99. The playlist will be rotated with different songs and “Pegadito Al Corazón” will disappear from the app’s playlist after a trial period. The app will include links to buy the album on iTunes.

AT&T will be the exclusive provider of ringtones and ringbacks from “Pegadito Al Corazón” for two weeks beginning Aug. 14, while Telcel will have exclusive ringtones through its own mobile store for a longer period of time.

Sean Bones Premieres Norah Jones Collaboration, Announces Tour Dates

Frenchkiss indie-pop ragamuffin Sean Bones has been churning out the music at a feverish clip. The much-discussed collaboration with Norah Jones, who Sean starred opposite in LA Film Festival winner Wah Do Dem, was offered up at Stereogum, only days after AOL Spinner premiered a souped-up remix of “Dancehall” by the Bodega Girls. Of course, if listening’s just not enough, and you’re hungry for more of Bones’ beach-friendly Reggae-pop union, Sean and bandmate Merida Rose recently shot a performance clip for “Turn Them,” trading out the film’s florid backdrop of Jamaica for a slightly more “New York” experience of the waterfront. Check it all out below, along with a list of Sean’s recently-announced September dates.

Raveonettes Unveil More New Music For Current TV

Current TV Music is featuring the latest snippet from The Raveonettes Chelsea Sessions, an acoustic take on In & Out Of Control’s ravishing, reverb-soaked “Gone Forever.” The interview portion of the clip reveals the track to be one of the songs Sharin Foo and Sune Wagner wrote completely in the studio this June. Always suckers for some well-placed nostalgia, Wagner claims The Ramones served as his muse on “Forever.” “It was definitely a huge tribute to the way that Joey Ramone would sing,” he says. Hear its Rockaway Beach references below, along with Spin.com’s exclusive peek at “Breaking Into Cars,” and ABC Amplified Blog’s preview of lead-leaker “Suicide.”

The Antlers Premiere Video For “Two” On Pitchfork; Confirm CMJ Showcase, Extend Tour

The Antlers, Brooklyn-based owners of the recently-BNM’d, NPR album of the year contender Hospice, are extending their Frenchkiss LP’s quietly cathartic beauty to their first ever music video. The clip for “Two,” directed by Ethan Segal and Albert Thrower, is the visually arresting result of hours of hard work – a combination of stop motion paper cut-out animation, vector graphics, and computer animation in Adobe Aftereffects. Bolstered by impressive technique, and a brilliant moment of release, the video saw its world premiere on Pitchfork.tv earlier this week, mere days before the trio of Peter Silberman, Michael Lerner and Darby Cici found themselves among the first artists announced for the annual indie music rampage CMJ Music Marathon in New York City. To watch “Two”, check in to Hospice, and check out The Antlers freshly-expanded touring schedule, see below.

Raveonettes Preview New Song, Chelsea Session Clip At Spin.com

On Monday, Spin.com unveiled the second clip from The Chelsea Sessions, a 20-minute companion featurette to The Raveonettes’ October 6th Vice LP, In & Out Of Control, exclusively available with purchase of the record at iTunes. The preview features Sharin Foo and Sune Wagner playing a stripped-down version of “Breaking Into Cars,” a previously-unheard track from the new record. Foo and Wagner discuss, among other things, the drum sound on this slow-burner: “we were trying to find sort of like a RZA type of snare sound that he has in [‘Bring The Rukus’],” says Wagner. “[We] had to make it ourselves and it came out, you know, pretty close.” Hear the Shaolin influence below. And in case you missed it, the first clip from The Chelsea Sessions, a performance and discussion of “Suicide,” was premiered last week on ABC’s Amplified Blog. Stay tuned to Current TV Music next Monday, August 24th for a rendition and discussion of another unreleased Control cut, “Gone Forever.”
