Limited Edition Box Set in Stores Now, Three Reissues to Hit Stores Next Month
This morning, RJD2 took to his website to announce that he will be giving away free records, MP3s, and more each Monday from now through the release of his forthcoming full length, The Colossus, on January 19th, 2010.
It all kicks off with a giveaway of a super rare vinyl test pressing of The Horror EP, originally released in 2003 on Definitive Jux records and in line to be reissued on November 17th via RJ’s newly formed label RJ’s Electrical Connections, now home to nearly all things RJD2 past and present.
So far this year has seen the re-release of 2001’s Your Face or Your Knee Caps on August 18th and a limited edition box set entitled RJD2 2002-2010, which hit stores last week and included all three studio albums originally released on Definitive Jux, plus a disc of unreleased material titled “Tin Foil Hat EP,” a signed and numbered silk screened poster, and a download card for all three LPs + the EP, as well as a space in the box for The Third Hand LP released on XL Recordings in 2007 and a space for The Colossus.
The Horror is just one of three reissues to hit stores next month – the other two being 2002’s Deadringer, out November 3rd and 2004’s Since We Last Spoke, also out on November 17th.
And of course topping it all off is RJD2’s new album, The Colossus, to be released on January 19th. Only time will tell what additional prizes he has up his sleeve. Until then, read RJD2’s note and enter for a chance to win here: http://rjselectricalconnections.com.

The first leg of The Raveonettes’ In And Out Of Control tour comes to an end tomorrow night in Kansas City. But to tide audiences over until the festivities kick back off with Crocodiles in early November, Live Daily has posted a brand new in-studio performance from the band. The feature sports the bewitchingly voiced Sharin Foo and a Hawaiian-shirted Sune Wagner playing through three of their latest LP’s favorites, the short but bittersweet “Oh I Buried You Today,” the bubblegum bounce of “Suicide” and the overdosing lead-single “Last Dance.” Check them out below.

In other news, Foo and Wagner are still giving away tickets to their fans via Twitter in exchange for new merch ideas. Tired of the boilerplate fare (after all, who needs another t-shirt?), The Raveonettes want to expand their horizons according to their fans’ requests. All would-be concertgoers need to do to for a chance to win is tweet the date on which they’d like to see the band, along with a new merch idea, making sure to include the hash-tag #ravestour (otherwise the tweet might be missed). The band has been selecting winners at random and alerting the lucky someone in each city via Direct Message two days before the show.

Cult musician Mojo Nixon hasn’t had a hit in years, but he’s moved over a million songs at Amazon.com so far this month.
The artist, who calls his revved-up rockabilly sound “psychobilly,” earlier this year cooked up a scheme to put almost his entire catalog up on Amazon.com, for free. “I’m losing a little bit of money in the short run,” Mr. Nixon says. But “in the long run, there is going to be much bigger Mojo awareness.” He and his online distributor, The Orchard, hope the move will lead to bigger sales and other opportunities, such as licensing more of his songs to Hollywood and Madison Avenue.

Releases New Track featuring Del the Funky Homosapien and Brother Ali
Blackalicious MC Gift of Gab is gearing up for his second solo release, Escape 2 Mars, by touring with some of his finest peers in indie hip hop. The Deadliest Catch Tour will find Gab hitting the road alongside Jurassic 5’s Chali 2na, as well as Mr. Lif and Lyrics Born. With the release of In And Out Of Control now in the rearview, Danish noir-pop duo The Raveonettes are hitting the road in support of the critically acclaimed full-length, their fourth overall and second after a Vice Records re-birth. The multi-month jaunt kicked off last night in Hoboken with an intimate performance at the 200-capcity Maxwells, and will run into November. But this isn’t your average tour. Earlier today, the band announced via a Myspace blog post that they’d be giving tickets to one lucky fan in each market, and – even better – allowing that special someone to hang out backstage for a drink before the show. What does the band expect in return? Merch ideas! Tired of t-shirts, stickers, and the boilerplate merch table fare, The Raveonettes want to expand their horizons with input from their fans. Run exclusively on Twitter, all fans need to do to for a chance to win is tweet the date on which they’d like to see the band, along with a new merch idea, making sure to include the hash-tag #ravestour (otherwise the tweet might be missed). The band will select the winner at random and alert the lucky someone in each city via Direct Message two days before the show.

And if that isn’t enough, the proof of the Divinity’s dominance couldn’t be any clearer now that the band has uploaded album ace “Hang Him High” to their Myspace page. Head over now to check it out.
