Neon Indian Drops Not One, But Two Remixes of Grizzly Bear’s “Cheerleader”

Neon Indian gave us something to be thankful for last week when he released not one, but two brand new remixes of the Grizzly Bear fave, “Cheerleader.”  The first one, aptly titled “Sega Genesis P-Orridge” mix, bathes the track in poppy synthy goodness, while the second mix, “Studio 6669” Remix, offers a more laid back approach.  Stream the Pitchfork-premiered tracks here, and if you’re in New York, you’re lucky enough to have 3 chances to catch the band around town this December.

The Antlers Premiere New Version Of Sylvia At NPR, Release Single At iTunes

With December creeping around the corner and “Best of 2009” lists fast approaching, one album that’s sure to mount most of them is the hauntingly beautiful Hospice, the breakthrough LP from Brooklyn indie rockers The Antlers. Fresh off a lengthy tour of the states (and with their Daytrotter session still making the rounds and fans directing their own videos for album faves), the band is releasing a special single of Hospice standout “Sylvia,” recorded right here in The Orchard’s NYC studio. The new version of the track is chilling in its minimalist take on the song, reverb enveloping frontman Peter Silberman’s delicate rumination on duty in the face of life’s most grim moment. The single, out this week, also includes a bundle of their acclaimed semi-animated video for “Two.” NPR premieredSylvia: Live at the Orchard NYC” this morning. And speaking of The Antlers in NYC, Silberman and company will cap their marathon year with a performance at The Bowery Ballroom, alongside Sharon Van Etten and Uninhabitable Mansions, on December 15th.
