Legendary British Recording Acts to Receive Global Digital Marketing and Distribution Services
The Orchard (NASDAQ: ORCD), a global leader in music and video distribution and comprehensive digital strategy, announcedthat it has signed legendary British rock bands Jethro Tull and Cornershop, as well as England’s one-and-only Boy George. These acts were signed to major record labels prior to partnering with The Orchard for distribution and digital marketing.
Jethro Tull’s lead singer and flutist Ian Anderson commented on the group’s endeavor, “In this exciting age of digital music distribution, The Orchard’s new thinking and ability to seek out and take advantage of new opportunities as they are presented, means the difference between stagnation of the music industry as we know it and the growth of a new musical prosperity. Digital distribution is fast becoming the main outlet for the interests of our children’s generation; those children who will inherit the great historical depth of repertoire of Rock, Pop, and Classical music, as well as their own generational peer artists.”
Last year’s In & Out Of Control [Vice Music] found The Raveonettes pulling together all of the disparate sounds they’ve mastered over their decade-spanning career. From bubblegum pop and sinister noir rock, to fuzzed out noise and throbbing dance music, Sune Rose Wagner and Sharin Foo compiled it all on their fourth LP. But despite the album’s nomadic heart, the Raves’ true sweet spot has always been the ringing, reverbed guitars and slicked back melodies that make album standout “Heart of Stone” such a pleaser. Picking up where they left off on 2008’s “Black / White” collaboration, the band recently reunited with Blind to create a video deserving of the track.

Frenchkiss darlings The Antlers released a second music video from their 2009 breakout album Hospice on Friday. The video for Hospice standout, “Bear,” shot in the bleak and snowy forest of… um… Bear Mountain, features beautiful cinematography and fantastical imagery, offering a perfect visual complement to the song’s moving lyrics. Rife with metaphors, despite the video’s initial dreariness, “Bear” maintains some of the same themes of hope that we saw in the bands’ video for “Two.”
Pitchfork is hosting the premiere of the Evan Owen Dennis-directed clip right now. The Antlers just kicked off a tour with UK band Editors, which will run through the end of February. After that the band will be at SXSW, and then head out on a headlining US tour in April and May with Saratoga Springs duo Phantogram.
