THE ORCHARD ANNOUNCES UNRELEASED MOJO NIXON MUSIC AND FULL CATALOG, AVAILABLE FOR FREE, EXCLUSIVELY ON AMAZON
SECRET STASH OF NOTORIOUS GONZO ROCKER’S TO BE RELEASED DIGITALLY TO STIMULATE THE ECONOMY
New York, October 06, 2009, Today, The Orchard (NASDAQ: ORCD) announced that retired recording artist Mojo Nixon will release a new album, Whiskey Rebellion, on October 7th, available exclusively on Amazon MP3, at no cost. The album, with seventeen never-before released tracks, along with the full Mojo Nixon catalog, will be available for free download for the first three weeks of its release date at the online retailer. Following the three week promotion on Amazon, the full catalog will be available for half of its normal price.
“Can’t wait for Washington to fix the economy,” Mojo Nixon stated. “We must take bold action now. If I make the new album free and my entire catalog free it will stimulate the economy. It might even over-stimulate the economy. History has shown than when people listen to my music, money tends to flow to bartenders, race tracks, late night greasy spoons, bail bondsman, go kart tracks, tractor pulls, football games, peep shows and several black market vices. My music causes itches that it usually takes some money to scratch.”
“We strive to support artistic vision,” commented Brad Navin, Executive Vice President of The Orchard. “When an artist calls you up to tell you they are coming out of retirement and that the entire plan is a two-show tour and to give away the entire catalog for free it would usually make you to think twice. However, after twelve years of working with Mojo, I’ve learned not to doubt his hillbilly genius,” Navin added.
The Whiskey Rebellion collection is a variety of songs left off of previous albums, songs from movie soundtracks and television shows, sports themes, alternative versions of previously released songs, and demos. “I had lost my secret stash,” says Nixon. “I had hid it from myself and did such a good job I couldn’t remember where. While rooting around under the front porch I found an old shoe box full of cassette tapes strays- lost dogs -homeless songs in need of a title…” “All of these songs only existed on cassette tapes,” says Nixon. “Songs from various cockamamie schemes dating from 1983 to 2007. Some solo, some with The Toadliquors, and some I don’t even remember when, where, or with whom they were recorded.”
The songs from Whiskey Rebellion range from songs about Dr. Laura and songs about asparagus to songs about Kinky Friedman and the theme song Mojo wrote for the 1998 US Olympic Luge Team. The other songs available for free download at Amazon include Mojo’s signature tunes Debbie Gibson Is Pregnant With My Two Headed Luv Child, Don Henley Must Die, I Hate Banks, I Saw Jesus At McDonalds At Midnight, Burn Down The Malls, Bring Me The Head Of David Geffen, You Can’t Kill Me, the huge crowd pleasing favorite Tie My Pecker To My Leg and his acclaimed 1987 hit Elvis Is Everywhere.
“It has been concluded by a team of top economists for each of my albums downloaded free, nearly $100 will flow into the underbelly, grass roots, dive bar economy,” states Nixon. “Mojo Nixon overstimulus sensation sweeping the nation.”
“Act now! Limited time offer! Ain’t gonna be free forever!”
