1, 2, 3, 4….The Orchard In Numbers

How do you measure a year? How many shows you have attended? How many epic albums you heard that year? How many cups of coffee you’ve consumed? Well, here at The Orchard it is in cups of coffee AND a boatload of other things relating to our business. As a result, we’ve compiled some stats from the first half of 2010. The numbers have definitely increased since we first created this list, but as the summer comes to an end we wanted to share it with you all.

  • 1 new client signed every day
  • 9,945,939 tracks delivered to digital services
  • 1 track travels the equivalent of 122 times around the world to get to all of our digital services
  • 11 tracks from our catalogue are streamed (and paid for) every second
  • 10,796 streams of our videos occur every hour on YouTube
  • 10,894 placements on digital retail outlets around the world
  • 1,873 active physical SKU’s
  • 6,680 stores selling our physical goods
  • 33,000 minutes in the studio recording, mixing and mastering
  • 2,700 tracks pitched to music supervisors around the globe
  • 124 email blasts sent to online music writers and editors

And, finally…

  • 1,300 cups of coffee have been brewed each month in our New York headquarters (this doesn’t count any coffee purchased from our local coffee shops, who receive a fair bit of our salaries each month)

Ty Herndon Makes More $ Through His D2F Store Than All Other Retailers

Over here at The Orchard we’ve started to embrace Nashville and all of its charms. One of the first artists we’ve had the pleasure of working with is country music and gospel singer Ty Herndon. Back in June, we released his most recent album and single of the same name “Journey On” through all digital retailers around the world, manufactured CDs for his tour, and offered premium packages to his fans through his website www.tyherndon.net.

Lo and behold, for the first 2 months of release, Ty received 880% more money from his direct-to-fan store than from his digital downloads (single and album combined). 880%! This is definitely an outlier from other D2F campaigns we’ve run, but hey, sometimes artist stores hit the jackpot.
