The well-wishers and indie-pop wizards of Computer Perfection are back from hitting the stage at CMJ’s Music Marathon here in our own big apple with the first video from their new album, We Wish You Well On Your Way To Hell. The first track from the LP, “Able Archer” is already out on YouTube, featuring low-fi camera work reminiscent of fortuitous Polaroid accidents – or, as the tags on YouTube suggest, “near disasters.” These shots are interspersed with illustration work, geometry, architecture, and design all fitting of the band’s name; and 8-bit style computer sequences, heavily referencing the 80’s cult film WarGames.
Splintering from Detroit indie pop mavens Pas/Cal, members Gene C, Bem, N. Burgundy, Stevers McFever, and Aaron Q have brought a new sound to the new album, which highlights their numerous influences. This psychedelic, electro-pop trip is out now on Le Grand Magistery, and after you’ve checked out “Able Archer” and the originally-released MP3, “Silence Is A Shadow’s Dream,” you can pick it up at the buy links below.

When asked, in an interview, to describe the “dissolution” of Pas/Cal, former member LTD answered back with a chemical formula: NaCl(s) → Na+(aq) + Cl-(aq), the dissolution of salt into water. But Gene C, Bem, N. Burgundy, Stevers McFever, and Aaron Q (remaining member Casimer Pascal will still record under the name) aren’t wasting tears on the end of their journey with Pas/Cal; they’ve hit the studio and gone to work as Computer Perfection, getting ready to release their first album, We Wish You Well On Your Way To Hell, due on November 9th via Le Grand Magistery. The band, whose original material was actually featured on all three Pas/Cal EPs and the debut album, brings a different sound to the new record which Gene describes as “the soundtrack to a different and stranger journey.” This psychedelic, distorted, electropop shows off the band’s numerous influences, which the guys (and gal) cite as being quite diverse, spanning not only music, but film, literature, and, yes, even food.
The five former Pas/Cal members will hit the stage at CMJ’s Music Marathon in New York City, October 20-24th, and more dates are in the works. Not going to be in New York City for that weeklong indiefest? No problem: you can check out the first free track from the album and share it to your heart’s content by clicking the link below.
And – incidentally, no one will go to hell if you share it.
