New Global Youth Media & Arts Program Exhibit Opens at NYU’s Commons Gallery
On Friday, May 21 at 6:30PM, global education non-profit World Savvy will host the 3rd annual Global Youth Media & Arts Festival Celebration in partnership with NYU Steinhardt School’s Commons Gallery. The unique exhibit features visual artwork and media by over 1,000 New York City middle and high school students. The visual arts exhibition will be on display and open to the public from May 19-May 26.
This year students had the unique opportunity to write and submit songs for Sounds of Identity: Voices of World Savvy Youth, an album of original music, hip hop and spoken word, produced in partnership with The Orchard, a global leader in music and video distribution and comprehensive digital strategy.The album will be released at the May 21st opening, and students will perform their songs live at the event.The album is available for preorder on iTunes.

Ryan Ross has spent the better part of his late teens as the chief songwriter for the wildly popular Las Vegas band, Panic! at the Disco. Throughout the band’s two albums, Ryan exhibited a writing progression that began to fall increasingly outside the lines of the band’s context. While Panic! were on their last world tour for Pretty. Odd, it became clear that the most recent compositions written by Ross and bandmate/co-writer Jon Walker needed a more fitting home. Ross and Walker picked up and moved west to California, settling into their new quarters and taking up a new moniker- The Young Veins.
