Local Natives on Daytrotter, Video From Bowery Ballroom Show On Baeble

Local Natives are on a non-stop flight to the top, dazzling fans with a seemingly endless run of amazing shows.  After a highly acclaimed performance at the Pitchfork Music Festival, Local Natives have won the gold yet again with their latest session at Daytrotter.

Revisiting “Wide Eyes” and tackling new ground with lesser-hyped Gorilla Manor tracks “Sticky Thread” and “Cubism Dream,Local Natives have created the quintessential acoustic companion to their LP.

Daytrotter’s Sean Moeller says it best in his write-up:

They paint the picture, with three and four-part harmonies that could butter bread and with a revelatory rhythm and pulse that makes you perspire, your heart race like a filly just thinking about it. The band arranges songs in ways that force you to behave differently, to change a little inside…”

Top Surf Film Director TAYLOR STEELE Debuts CASTLES IN THE SKY

Leading surf film director and producer Taylor Steele released his new film Castles in the Sky today on iTunes.  After three years of production exploring exotic coastlines in every corner of the earth, and after wildly successful theatrical screenings around the world, the highly anticipated movie arguably stands to be the best surf film ever made.

Castles In the Sky, the sequel to Steele and Dustin Humphrey’s film/book collaboration Sipping Jetstreams, reveals breathtaking landscapes, natural wonders and cultural excursions…a completely new approach to surf filmmaking. Filmed in five countries, the movie delves into the true heart of the locations while the surfers travel through them with a sense of open-minded awe. With never-before seen waves, an original score recorded locally during the trip, tunes from Dr. Dog, Bat For Lashes, Deer Tick and others, and some of the best surfers in the world such as Jordy Smith, Dane Reynolds, Rob Machado and Dave Rastovich contributing their art, passion and athleticism, Castles In The Sky immerses the viewer in the incredible experience which these surfers and filmmakers shared.

If Sipping Jetstreams was like an ambient dream you have after travel, Castles is more like the experience of actually being there.Taylor Steele

An Inside Look on the Set of Vinnie Paz’s “Keep Movin’ On” Video

Philly MC Vinnie Paz, of Jedi Mind Tricks and Army of Pharaohs fame, has just released a 3 part behind the scenes look into the creation of the heart-stirring video for “Keep Movin’ On.” Under the direction of Joe Frantz (Bam Margera, HIM, CKY, Clutch, Viking Skull, The 69 Eyes), Vinnie and collaborator Shara Worden teamed up with a celebrity cast including Philly’s multi-talented star Tony Luke Jr., adult actress Gina Lynn, and rocker Scott Vogel of the band Terror.

Weaving an emotional portrait of life in Philadelphia, the music video shows how Philly natives push on through hard times with pride.  This short documentary is like no other behind the scenes rap video ever made.  Leaving out flashy cars, “booty shakers, and homeboys”, Joe Frantz shows a raw insight into Vinnie, with some signature pranks and antics of course.
