The Orchard Asia is extremely excited about the just-released Road to The Independent King by new signing AK-69. AK-69 won Billboard Japan’s Independent Artist of the Year award in 2011 and is hailed locally as Japan’s Top MC. He fills stadiums in his native country, graces the covers of dozens of magazines across music and fashion, and his last album, The Independent King, was the No. 1 sold Hip-Hop album in the country last year.
Aiming to break the international market, the album’s first single, “Too Much Money Out Here,” features DJ Khaled. Earlier this year, AK-69 performed at Manhattan’s SOB’s for Hot 97’s monthly “Who’s Next” showcase and impressed the tough crowd with his flow. He has garnered a massive YouTube following of over 25,000 subscribers and the video for his single “And I Love You So” hit more than 15 million views.
Check it out for yourself below and look forward to some more AK-69 coming your way! The album is out now, along with the rest of his catalogue. And before we part, here’s an interview he did with Hot 97 and a write-up on MTV Iggy.
