Black Moth Super Rainbow Get a Hell of a “Kickstart!”

August 29, 2012 Artist News No Comments

{MASK!!!} THE ONE! Hand-numbered, Backer-exclusive color scheme, blacklight-reactive BMSR Ugly Orange Full-Head latex mask (from the album cover). These are made by artists in Pittsburgh and painted by hand (why they’re so limited) – comes loaded with everything from the “GOOD TIME DIGITAL DOWNLOAD” tier on a USB stick jammed in the mouth like a tooth, and a Cobra Juicy vinyl sticker set (of 3).

No, this is not a product presented at an innovative and unusual trade show. Nor is it a prank pulled on you by your five year-old nephew’s weird friend. If you’ve never heard of anything like this, don’t feel stupid yet… It’s probably because it’s never been done before. This, dear Daily Rinders, is what you get for a pledge of $75 to Black Moth Super Rainbow’s Kickstarter campaign. (Well, what you could have gotten if you’d pledged in time.)

In anticipation of Black Moth Super Rainbow‘s new album Cobra Juicy, the Pittsburgh-based electronic band called upon their dedicated fans to help them finance their new physical release through Kickstarter, the crowd-funding platform. In addition to the (totally awesome) latex mask pictured above, you could also pledge to receive more traditional items such as t-shirts and posters, or go nuts for unlimited guest list privileges or a roller skating party with Tobacco, bandleader and songwriter for BMSR. Over $30,000 were harvested in 24 hours, for a total of $125,635 funded, which was far and above the $45,000 originally sought. Way to go, fans!

Now, thanks to the overwhelming support of fans, the band is about to release Cobra Juicy on Tobacco’s own Rad Cult label this October 9th, 2012. You can already preview the track “Windshield Smasher” on The FADER – so go check it out; you’ve earned it!

Last but not least, Black Moth Super Rainbow is back on stage this fall. Tobacco has put out the Black Moth signal and assembled the band, which will be hitting the road in October. Now this is the perfect opportunity for those who received the “Lifetime Guestlist” Kickstarter gift to start cashing in. Tour dates after the jump!
