Welcome, Kerry!

Kerry Choe, Product Manager, The OrchardIntroducing Kerry Choe, Product Manager

Prior to joining The Orchard, I was a product manager at a social gaming startup where I managed production on both iOS and Facebook platforms. I also have about 9 years of C++/C# development experience in the finance industry building trading systems.

During my spare time, I’m either tinkering with web/mobile tech, or getting outdoors on a surfboard or longboard. As for musical interests, I spent many a day in my youth hacking away on guitar to Metallica, Van Halen, and Guns ‘n Roses (as a result I’m now plagued with “air guitar syndrome”). I’ve since given up my “guitar hero” dreams and enjoy Electronica (Trance), Classic Indie (Radiohead, Weezer, Bloc Party), and All New Indie (can’t keep up).

Thanks for listening!

Start Jamming Early to The Sounds of CMJ 2012

CMJ 2012The 2012 edition of the CMJ Music Marathon may still be a couple of weeks off but we’ve already been excitedly penciling in our (exhausting!) show schedules and RSVP’ing to every party invitation that comes through the ol’ digital transom.

We’ve also assembled Spotify and Rdio playlists for some of our favorite Orchard artists performing at this year’s festival. Hopefully it makes some of your decisions easier.

We here present you with CMJ 2012: The Bands, The Music, The City. Happy CMJ!

Next Year, We’ll Be Old Enough To Drive!

October 1, 2012 Orchard News No Comments

Fifteen is a big year, right? You’re starting to take driving lessons (if you’re in the U.S., at least) and you feel a sense of pride and confidence in this new responsibility of ALMOST being able to drive. I can’t remember my 15th birthday party but I’m sure it was full of nerds. Needless to say, I’m sure it was also fun. When The Orchard turned 15 this year, we decided not to have just one birthday party but 5.

“Why 5?” you say. Yes, we really like cake and parties but it was mainly to share this celebration with as many of our clients and friends as possible. If we could have, we would have had one in every territory but unfortunately, time and logistics kept us from it. This year, we’re celebrating in the following cities:

  • New York City
  • London
  • Hamburg
  • Nashville
  • San Francisco

Click here to see pics from our NYC party and keep an eye out on our Facebook Page to see pics from London, Hamburg, Nashville and San Francisco.

We think we’ve done pretty darn good so far in our 15 years and look forward to the next 15 — wonder where digital music will have ventured to by then?

Welcome, Katie!

Katie Leeds, Content Coordinator, The OrchardIntroducing Katie Leeds, Content Coordinator

Hi everyone! My name is Katie Leeds and I’m from Haworth, NJ. I graduated from Syracuse University and am absolutely obsessed with it. Go orange! While my background is in Psychology and Child and Family Studies, music is something that I have always been passionate about. It’s in my blood. Some of my earliest memories are being backstage at concerts with my parents. Once I decided it was time to get an internship over the summer while in college, there was no doubt in my mind that it had to be in the Music Industry. I interned in the Publicity department at Universal Republic Records and from the very first day knew that this was what my career had to be. After graduating, I was a Marketing and Media Assistant at Sony Masterworks. Now, here I am at The Orchard! I am SO excited to be here and I am VERY excited about working with and learning from all of the amazing and talented people here.

Now for some fun facts about me: I love sushi, it’s my favorite food! I am amazing at Jewish geography (ex: Oh, you’re from/you went to/you worked at A? Do you know X, Y, and Z?) and if I could I would put it under special skills on my resume! Purple is my favorite color! Friends is my favorite show ever, I am a complete fanatic and have watched the entire series consecutively more than once! I sneeze in multiples, generally around 5! I am very upbeat, optimistic, and outgoing! I am a pop culture and social media junkie! I am addicted to nailpolish, I change my nail color at least twice a week! And last but most certainly not least, music is my life (duh)!
