Time flies! The Orchard isn’t one who would say otherwise, as we celebrate our 15th anniversary this year… And it is probably the “speed of life” — fast or slow, frenetic or peaceful, eventful or dull, or a mixture of the above — that led The Christians to let almost a decade pass since the release of their last album before getting back into the fold. That’s right, The Christians are back and ready to roll!
To keep driving the “time” point home, let me remind you that 25 years have passed since the release of The Christians’ self-titled debut that brought the band massive success at the end of the 1980s, climbing to #2 on the UK chart, spawning five Top 40 singles, including “Forgotten Town” and “Ideal World,” and eventually selling over a million copies. And now, 2012 is the time for Speed Of Life! Set to be released on August 27, this album offers a mixture of their classic anthems like the title track, stripped down raw ballads, and a storming cover of Marvin Gaye’s “Inner City Blues.”

2012 is the year folks! April saw deluxe re-issues for both The Christians and the follow-up Colour on Cherry Red Records, and the summer brought The Christians to several prestigious UK festivals, including Isle of Wight, in support of their new album.
