Freeloader Friday: Floating Points, Jonathan Butler & More

Floating Points Elaenia Album ArtIt’s Friday and you’re in the right place for all the latest and greatest music from The Orchard! Freeloader Friday is your chance to take a load off and let us do the heavy lifting. We’ve gathered up our freshest content and we’re bringing it straight to you.

Earlier this month, UK-based electronic artist, Floating Points, earned a Freeloader Friday mention with the video for his single, “Nespole.” Now, getting yet another preview from the forthcoming album, Elaenia, we have the track, “Peroration Six.” The Instrumental composition builds a brilliant tower of momentum atop a drum set foundation, electrified by guitar and other sounds. The volume builds to what becomes a blinding wash of sound and then, suddenly, it disappears into the silence from which it came.

This week also brings us a new track, “Show Me The Way,” from South African singer, songwriter, and guitarist Jonathan ButlerButler offers a healthy dose of Gospel Harmony, framed by Acoustic Guitar and an undeniably deep Groove. R&B, Jazz, Worship Music, Fusion, or whatever you want to call it, Jonathan Butler‘s music grooves and feels good. Check it out and let it sink in.

Finally, watch Red Pill‘s latest music video, “Day Drunk.” The phrase uttered before the song starts, “this is my attempt at a happy song,” aptly describes the morose optimism that exudes from Red Pill‘s lyrics and wraps around a playful, Hip-Hop piano loop. Easing the transition from summer to fall, Red Pill reminisces on the good times of summer and gets ready for the season ahead… With a red cup full of Tanqueray at 1 PM on a Friday afternoon.

Thanks for reading, everybody. See you next time for some more Freeloader Friday action!
