Grab your huge sodas (the ones that are legal in New York), pizza, Cheetos, ham, chocolate, a plate full of hot fried bacon, and pretzels; sit back, and get ready to listen (and laugh) to a new toe-tapping, finger-snapping, American anthem by Denis Leary, “Kiss My Ass.”
Between a book and a movie (none other than The Amazing Spiderman!), he found the time to write this honorable follow-up to his 1993 hit “Asshole.” If you were a fan then, you won’t be disappointed.
“The National Anthem is a truly great song,” Denis explains. “But it’s really really hard to sing and it’s not that funny. I wanted to create an alternative anthem that makes you tap your feet and has the word ‘ass’ in the title.”
Out on iTunes on July 2nd, Denis Leary’s new song is a swinging tune celebrating some of democracy’s greatest gifts: freedom, the American flag and giant gas-guzzling SUV’s. Along with his band The Enablers, and featuring the all-female Rehab Horns, Denis pays tribute to one of the most important American values of all: your right to vote. But not for politicians of course. Denis is talking about something a lot more important: voting for your favorite singers or celeb dancers. And then watching the loser you did NOT vote for break down and cry. And watching the whole mess happen on a plasma TV almost as big as a hotel swimming pool.
If this is just the description for this song, imagine the music video. Directed by Bryan Reisberg, the video is set to debut on July 2nd on FunnyOrDie.com. What better way is there to prep for America’s birthday? You can also listen to the song now, which premiered on June 27th, at the Huffington Post.
