Hope you're all relaxed and full of BBQ from the long weekend! This week at the Rind we're incredibly excited for the looong-awaited release of Cage's Depart From Me. Also in our Featured Artists section is the up and coming new mall-friendly Florida quintet, Broadway. In our free tracks section, we've got one from the honey-voiced David Mead, "Two" (the track, not the number) from the haunting and anthemic Brooklynites The Antlers, their Frenchkiss labelmate Sean Bones, Trife Diesel (aka Trife Da God) and many more. Bubbling Up brings us Staten Island's funkiest, the Budos Band, along with Danish darling Bird and some essential summer indie-pop from Generationals. As always there's a ton more In Stores Now and Coming Soon, including Royce Da 5'9", Assembly of Dust and DJ Spinna to name a few. Enjoy!

Definitive Jux is proud to present Depart From Me - the latest full-length album from underground/indie-rap legend Cage, a/k/a Chris Palko. Following up his 2005 critically-acclaimed LP, Hell's Winter, Cage continues his musical saga of a no-holds-barred, brutally autobiographical journey through his past and present on Depart From Me. Cage explains, "The idea of making a positive change in my life and getting clean, that was Hell's Winter. Depart From Me is the struggle in implementing those ideas."
Cage began his career on the legendary Bobbito Garcia and Stretch Armstrong radio show, releasing the single "Agent Orange" in 1997 on Garcia's label Fondle Em' Records. His talent led him to a deal with Eastern Conference Records, where he dropped his renowned full length, Movies For The Blind, one of the classic independent hip hop albums of this decade.
By 2005, Cage had paired up with rap legend El-P and his label Def Jux to produce Hell's Winter, a dark walk towards the light at the end of a tunnel. On Depart From Me Cage illuminates the struggles he's faced upon entering a world that continues to be a source of loss and confusion. He's helped along in this task with production by El-P, F. Sean (Hatebreed), Aesop Rock, and the late, great Camu Tao (R.I.P.). |

Upstart Orlando melodic hardcore band Broadway released their debut album Kingdoms today via Uprising Records. Breaking through the clutter of Florida's ever burgeoning music scene, the aspiring and inspiring five-piece has set its sights high and is loudly laying claim to the throne on this 12-song masterstoke. Rising above all contenders with its unique and dynamic melodies, Kingdoms delivers catchy sing-along hooks, interspersed with cathartic breakdowns and intermittent bursts of screamed aggression (all the while, maintaining a surprisingly sharp pop sensibility).
Joining the band on Kingdoms are guest vocalists Craig Owens of Chiodos and Emarosa's Jonny Craig. The track "Gotta Love That Southern Charm" is currently streaming on the band's Myspace page, while "Redeeming A Monster" is available for free download below. And as if a punishing debut wasn't enough, the band has been on the road since June as part of the Artery Foundation Across The Nation Tour, and will continue to be hitting towns near you all summer long.
