At Sundance 2016, The Orchard, along with A&E IndieFilms, was elated to gain the incredible documentary Life, Animated. Today, just about one year later, we are proud to say that this wonderful story earned an Oscar nomination for Best Documentary.
The film, directed by Roger Ross Williams, takes us on a heartfelt journey of Owen Suskind, a young man growing up with autism. As his family joins Owen’s journey they learn that his favorite animated films encourage his communication and allow Owen to connect with the world around him. With the love of his parents, Owen is able to grow and conquer his fears in a world inspired by his favorite Disney personalities.
The film, based on the best-selling book by Ron Suskind, has previously won the Sundance Directing Award: U.S. Documentary as well as The Audience Award at both San Francisco International Film Festival and Full Frame Film Festival.
With a powerful message, inspirational story and talented team we are so proud to see Life, Animated continue to captivate audiences.
