Dale Watson Celebrates the Release of The Truckin’ Sessions Vol. 2 This Week

April 21, 2009 Artist News No Comments

Pull your rig into the nearest wi-fi enabled lot and get out your laptop, because The Truckin’ Sessions: Volume Two hits stores today via Hyena Records. Volume Two is the long-awaited sequel to the original Truckin’ Sessions, Dale Watson’s 1998 tribute to the 18-wheeler and the men and women who drive it.  This is Watson’s second Hyena set, following his critically acclaimed 2007 release From The Cradle To The Grave.

Dale Watson has made a career out of defying contemporary country music standards. He’s remained tried and true to the spirit of authentic country giants like Johnny Cash, Buck Owens and Merle Haggard, and in the process has grown into an artist equal in stature.  Over his 25-plus year career, Dale has released one country classic after the next, while raising the roof with fiery performances at the smallest of honky-tonk dives to legendary music halls like The Grand Ole Opry.

Through his sharp songwriting and soulful baritone vocals, Dale captures both the humor and sadness of lives lived on the road, while empathizing with these iconic characters of America’s highways. Abetted by his seasoned band that has logged countless road miles themselves, The Truckin’ Sessions: Volume Two is a big wheeled, classic country ride not to be missed.

April 6, 2009 Artist News No Comments

In celebration of his new album The Truckin’ Sessions: Volume Two on Hyena Records, hardcore honky tonker Dale Watson will be honoring the men and women who drive the big rigs with a free “trucker appreciation” concert on Friday, April 3 at the beautiful Night Life Theater at the Willie’s Place truckstop in Carl’s Corner, Texas.

SIRIUS XM Radio will carry the entire show live on its Willie’s Place channel, SIRIUS channel 64 and XM channel 13, beginning at 10PM EST. There’s plenty of truck parking for drivers rollin’ through Texas, but if you can’t be there in person, tune in for a great night of gear grindin’, truckin’ tunes, along with an exclusive pre-show Dale Watson interview by Dallas Wayne from the SIRIUS XM studios at Carl’s Corner.

A portion of proceeds from the CD sales of The Truckin’ Sessions: Volume Two during the evening’s performance will be donated to the St. Christopher Truckers Development & Relief Fund, a not-for-profit organization that provides financial assistance to professional truck drivers who have medical problems and can not otherwise afford healthcare.

Dale Watson Gears Up for the Release of The Truckin’ Sessions Vol. 2

April 3, 2009 Artist News No Comments

“If I was a truckin’ man / I’d be a gear jammer with a one armed tan / I’d spend my nights in the roadhouse / Days on the lost highway
If I was a truckin’ man / I’d have my radio screamin’ on the AM band / All night drivin’ my dashboard lights / If I was a truckin’ man”

- Dale Watson’s Truckin’ Man

Dale Watson has made a career out of defying contemporary country music standards. He’s remained tried and true to the spirit of authentic country giants like Johnny Cash, Buck Owens and Merle Haggard, and in the process has grown into an artist equal in stature.  Over his 25-plus year career, Dale has released one country classic after the next, while raising the roof with fiery performances at the smallest of honky-tonk dives to legendary music halls like The Grand Ole Opry.

Following up his critically acclaimed 2007 release From The Cradle To The Grave, Dale Watson returns with his second album on Hyena Records entitled The Truckin’ Sessions: Volume Two. The collection reprises the most celebrated album in his discography, 1998’s The Truckin’ Sessions. A tribute to truck-driving men (and even a truckin’ queen), the album’s 14 songs pay homage to those who commandeer a mighty 18-wheeler rig for their livelihood.
