There have been babies, breakdowns, tantrums and hospitalizations. There was a big question mark over whether Bloc Party was ever going to make another record again. And then, there was 4. So after four years, the four Bloc Party band members are all set to release their fourth album. And the name of that album is FOUR.
Set to come out on August 21 via Frenchkiss Records, the album is produced by Alex Newport (The Mars Volta, At The Drive-In, Polysics) and was recorded and mixed in New York City. [One lucky winner even got to meet the band in the studio when he won the contest last April!] It’s the band’s first full-length since 2008′s acclaimed Intimacy, and expectations and excitement are soaring. Feeling the rush? Wait till you read what they have in store for you…
For a start, check out their cool album artwork, and take the opportunity to pre-order your copy while you’re at it! Then, check out frontman Kele Okereke’s thoughts on the album and the year ahead, and when you’re done, enjoy the teaser for the album… right here:
What’s next? Get your calendars out and pay attention, because the band has announced a string of European, U.S. and festival appearances following their two-year absence from the stage. If you’re a fan, it would be almost criminal to miss this first opportunity to hear new material from their forthcoming album, as well as classic tracks from the band’s ten-year history. They’ve already sold out their New York dates at Terminal 5, so don’t waste any time for the remaining available dates!
Bloc Party‘s three prior full-length releases, including their Mercury Prize-nominated debut Silent Alarm, have helped shape the sound of modern British guitar music. The announcement of the band’s “four-”thcoming album and return to the road mark the beginning of what will undoubtedly be a very very special year…
