The ever-proficient Duplass brothers and The Orchard are teaming up once again for the release of the brothers’ 2016 SXSW premiere, Rainbow Time. After closing The Overnight at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival and later signing a seven-film output deal with The Orchard, producers Mark and Jay Duplass and are now entrusting us with this funny yet moving drama, which we will release in theaters later this year.
Starring Linas Phillips, Melanie Lynskey, Timm Sharp, Artemis Pebdani, Jay Duplass and Tobin Bell, Rainbow Time follows a mentally-challenged 40-year-old man named Shonzi (Phillips) who is sent to live with his brother Todd (Timm Sharp). Things take a turn when Shonzi falls for Todd’s new girlfriend Lindsay (Melanie Lynskey) and threatens to reveal compromising secrets that could threaten the relationship.
Executive producers Mark and Jay Duplass as well as Mel Eslyn teamed up with producers Ian Michaels and Linas Phillips and co-producer Natalie Qasabian to present the film directed by Phillips. The Orchard has worked with Phillips before as well, on Manson Family Vacation, one of the films from the Duplass output deal.
This is a warm reunion for all parties and we look forward to bringing Rainbow Time to worldwide audiences in theaters, on digital, cable/satellite VOD, airlines and on DVD. In addition, we also have soundtrack rights to delight your ears with the music from the film.
