The Wooden Birds, led by Andrew Kenny (American Analog Set, Broken Social Scene), are unveiling their rendition of Hall & Oates’ chart-topper, “Maneater,” at Consequence of Sound. The Austin, TX quartet is due to drop their sophomore effort, Two Matchsticks, on June 7th via Barsuk Records. Ahead of the release, they have put together a three-track pre-release EP. The free digital download includes the band’s cover of the celebrated Hall & Oates track as well as the title track from their forthcoming full-length album.

Those who download the EP in exchange for their email address will be sent a special album pre-order offer by email.
In creating Two Matchsticks, the band drew on the strengths of their live show, making it more driven, upbeat and fuller than the Birds’ previous efforts. The album also features The Wooden Birds members Leslie Sisson and Matt Pond (Matt Pond PA) and other special guests such as Ben Gibbard from Death Cab For Cutie and members of Ola Podrida.
The Wooden Birds also recently announced their North American headlining tour, which includes shows along both coasts and two Canadian dates.
