Welcome, Alex!

Welcome, Alex!Introducing, Alex Luton, Strategy & Finance Director, Film & TV

Hello all, I am Alex Luton. I was born in Montreal and raised in New Jersey. I stayed close to home for college and received my B.A. in Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University. After graduating and feeling that I had seen all there was to see of New Jersey I decided to branch out and give it a go in California. So, I packed up a U-Haul and moved to San Diego.

Like any good transplant, I found a place by the beach, got myself a beach cruiser and tried to shed my East Coast paleness by soaking in the sun. A few sunburns later, I learned that the sun really is stronger in California and that maybe I should wear a higher SPF sunblock.

I started working as a Financial Advisor for American Express and for the next five years I built up my practice by helping guide individuals in saving and investing for their futures. When the dot-com bubble popped in 2001 it seemed like a good time to go back to school. Once I had ensured that my clients were in good hands, I sold my practice, packed up the U-Haul again and moved up the road to Los Angeles to get my MBA from Pepperdine University.

After receiving my degree, I have spent the last 13 years in various finance roles within the entertainment industry. I have worked in both domestic and international television distribution at Warner Bros and Universal. I lead the financial planning team at Vubiquity, a privately held global content distribution company. And most recently at Fandango, I was closely involved with their newly acquired FandangoNOW EST/VOD service.

I have witnessed first-hand the evolving content distribution landscape and believe the future of this space will be very exciting with new and unique challenges to come as we as individuals change the way we consume content. I am very excited to be joining the team at The Orchard and to be a part of the future of this great company. I look forward to meeting you all in person and helping out in any way I can.
