Get “Jaded & Faded” with Cerebral Ballzy

Cerebral Ballzy Jaded & Faded Album CoverCerebral Ballzy redefines Punk with their much-anticipated sophomore release, Jaded & Faded, out this week on Cult Records. In an interview with The Guardian, frontman Honor Titus says “being true to yourself and succeeding with that is a Punk-Rock victory.” With the expansion of the Punk genre in recent years, everyone is starting to question the definition of modern Punk. Cerebral Ballzy makes it clear that, to them, Punk doesn’t need to be dangerous, it just has to be honest.

True to that goal, originality is what you can expect on Cerebal Ballzy’s latest. The album was recorded in rural Texas — at Sonic Ranch studio with Dave Sitek, to be exact — instead of in the midst of the busy energy of New York and all its distractions. The band took away what was familiar and embarked in a new direction, taking on heavier subjects in a more straightforward way.

Unafraid to explore love with vulnerability, Titus sings, “And with you in my arms, I’ll get by,” on “Better Than Leather,” which the band recently performed when they made their television debut on Last Call With Carson Daly. With this admission, it is clear that there’s been some growing up since the last album.

Cerebral Ballzy also opts for subtlety on Jaded & Faded. “Lonely As America” is an unexpectedly restrained take on what Titus calls “the vapid existence that so many of us fall into, shrouded under the guise of everyday life.” This approach is entirely different to the one on their debut album, which shows that Cerebral Ballzy‘s focus has shifted from pure rebellion to honest and purposeful nonconformity.

Get a load of Jaded & Faded‘s darkness and depth on your service of choice. You won’t be disappointed.
