Although the curtain has closed on Utah’s 2017 Sundance film festival, the show is not over for us. This week, The Orchard acquired Dan Sickles and Antonio Santini’s critically acclaimed documentary Dina, the U.S. Grand Jury Prize winner for Best Documentary.
Dina is an incredibly in-depth look into a complicated yet deep-rooted romance between Dina Buno and Scott Levin. Just engaged, these two are working to understand the dynamic of their unique relationship while also balancing their individual mental disabilities. From dusk until dawn, from public dates to the most private moments, the film’s directors fit comfortably into each intimate situation to shed light on the struggle and beauty behind Dina and Scott’s companionship.
The Orchard has acquired all North American distribution rights to the film and is planning a fall release. Dina‘s acquisition comes off the heels of two other wins for The Orchard after securing rights to Brett Haley’s The Hero as well as Shaul Schwarz and Christina Clusiau‘s Trophy.
