Out Today by The Orchard: Caroline Polachek, Third Eye Blind & More

Welcome back! This week’s Out Today artists have very specific sounds that you’re going to want to hear on repeat. From Chairlift’s very own, Caroline Polachek and her eccentric melodies, to Third Eye Blind’s classic sound with a new, vulnerable and modern twist to the heartfelt singer-songwriting experience of LEW. Read on and find your flavor.

Caroline Polachek – Pang (Perpetual Novice)
Caroline Polachek’s dreamy, uplifting beats, pirate vibes and powerful vocals have arrived. Not only this, but, Polachek’s forthcoming album, Pang (Perpetual Novice), is here in all its glory. First, let’s take it back to 2005 for a moment, Polachek was a member of the Indie-pop duo, Chairlift. Not only did Polachek rise up in fame while being in this group but, she also got a very special surprise from Beyonce Knowles. “No Angel,” a song produced and written by Polachek, ended up making it onto Beyonce’s fifth studio album back in 2013. Now with this album, Pang encompasses everything that Polachek embodies: romance, vulnerability, sultry sound, all in what can be described as pure poetry.

Take a listen for yourself and feel a Pang of Polachek into your life.

Third Eye Blind – Screamer (Mega Collider Records)

The 1993, American rock band, Third Eye Blind has dropped their new album, Screamer alongside MRI’s Mega Collider Records. Just a few days ago, the band was performing at the Austin City Limits Music Festival at Zilker Park along with artists like Guns N’ Roses, Tame Impala, Childish Gambino, Cardi B and Kacey Musgraves, just to name a few. With the band’s impressive run spanning over a decade, frontman of Third Eye Blind, Stephan Jenkins, told Triblive, on a musical level, the album is completely raw, compared to other Third Eye Blind albums. Stephan states, “I come alive beside you when I breathe you in. Let your psycho out and raise your voice again,” are some of the lyrics featured in their vulnerable single, “Screamer” featuring Alexis Krauss. Other songs like “Walk Like Kings,” give a classic Third Eye Blind vibe along with their easy going lyrics and vocals.

Third Eye Blind is currently touring around Europe and will be returning to play in the US in November. Check out the dates here and listen to what’s sure to be another Third Eye Blind classic album, Screamer.

LEW – Red Flags (Invasion)

Burgeoning, singer-songwriter, Lewis Loh, or LEW, is a 23-year-old college student has circled the globe to pursue music, from Hong Kong to Singapore and now Berklee College of Music in Boston. LEW’s Lullacry album released in 2017 went straight to #1 on iTunes’ Singapore Pop charts.  Now, his new EP, Red Flags (Invasion), which includes the emotional and beautifully composed title track, “Red Flags” featuring Joie Tan is out now. LEW speaks freely about mental health and its importance. He told Buro, his life changed once he moved to Singapore alone and was faced with problems that he couldn’t run from. “Mental health was such an important issue for me to talk about, so I’m lucky that I’ve built a brand that’s all about being open, honest, and real.”

To get an insight on LEW’s take on mental health, love, and more, listen to Red Flags out now.

That’s it for this week!
