TransWorld SNOWboarding recently descended upon Denver, CO for the 17th Annual Riders’ Poll Awards show. For 17 years now, TWS has polled the professional snowboarding community to find their picks for the best riders and films of the year. Each season, these awards are decided by the opinions of over 100 top snowboarding pros. After 3 years of poor snowfall in North America, the recent epic conditions of 2016 charged the night as 1,100 pro snowboarders and industry members crammed into the Ogden Theater to honor the world’s best for their accomplishments.
While TransWorld SNOWboarding hosts the awards and fuels the crowd with whiskey and PBR, the winners are truly a reflection of peer acknowledgement — the highest praise any rider can receive.
The top honor of the night is the prestigious “Video of the Year” award, an accolade that lives forever within the snowboard community. This year, with a full crop of bangers, Absinthe Films pulled #1 with their project Eversince. Absinthe’s founder and director, Justin Hostynek, has produced 24 snowboard films and is a true master of the genre. For that reason, it’s hard to believe that, although they’ve been nominated in the past, this is Absinthe’s first Riders’ Poll Video of the Year of the year win. This year’s film was one of Absinthe’s most diverse projects with backcountry booters, epic pillow stacks, AK lines and urban street segments that will be talked about for years to come.
A huge congratulations goes out to Hostynek and the entire crew behind Absinthe Films. They are the longest running snowboard film franchise and now a very deserving winner of Video of the Year 2016.
Eversince and many other Absinthe Films can be found worldwide on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play and XBox via The Orchard.
