Introducing Ken Seki, Director of Japan
Hi everyone, greetings from Japan! I`m really excited to have taken on this role at The Orchard and look forward to working with you all to expand the business in Japan.
For some background, I’ve been involved with the music and entertainment business here in Japan in one capacity or another from licensing, publishing and management for the last 25 years. I originally started in artist management at a company called YUI Music Factory as an artist manager and then to label For Life Records (Ryuichi Sakamoto, Towa Tei) as International Manager and then to MTV. I’ve since consulted for many different companies over the years like Marvel and Sony and more recently for Omnifone as their Japan Representative managing their business here. I feel I’ve come full circle now that I’m working more closely with the labels and content again.
My passion for music started at an early age with my older brother putting me on to bands like KISS and AC/DC. And remember seeing every 80’s hard rock band that came to Toronto where I grew up. I always dreamed of playing in a band as a drummer and while that never happened (probably a good thing ☺) I’m still surrounded by music which I feel grateful for. I still play though and try to do as many gigs that I can with my jazz funk band.
Hoping to meet you all soon!
