Phosphene Dream marks a giant leap forward for the band.  Produced and mixed by Dave Sardy (Oasis, Wolfmother, Black Mountain) over a period of six months in Los Angeles, the album shows off both sonically and musically a bold new direction for The Black Angels, a fresh take on the neo-Psychedelic movement they’ve been at the forefront of for years. … Continue Reading

Spin.com Premiere: More Revoir Simone!

November 10, 2008 Artist News No Comments

Early last week, Spin.com unveiled yet another remix from Au Revoir Simone’s forthcoming Reverse Migration . Following on the heels of Pacific’s RCRDLBL-approved take on “Sad Song” , and Stereogum’s unveiling of Ruff and Jam’s version of “Lark” , Spin went for the spooky strains of Mark-Anthony Tieku’s remix of “The Way to There.” “Here,” Spin says, “London mixmaster Mark-Anthony Tieku has taken…a serene track from Au Revoir Simone’s 2007 album The Bird of Music , and added menacing synths and screeching white noises.”  Hear for yourself below.

‘Migration’ To A Better Place

July 1, 2008 Artist News No Comments

What’s that? A five-piecer from three different boroughs (Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens, to be exact) dropping onto SPIN.com like a bird’s business, that’s what. Indeed, experimental popists Takka Takka premiered a brand new track, “Everybody Say,” yesterday! Big news from a band with big potential, folks!

Slated for release on July 29th via Ernest Jenning, these guys mean business on Migration. They’ve enlisted the help of National drummer Bryan Devendorf for the track, and have a slew of NYC dates coming up, including Union Hall on July 3rd, and a few “Takka Tuesday” dates at Pianos on the 15th, 22nd, and 29th. Mixing euphoric synths and grungy palm muted guitars certainly does impress in the case of this track, and Takka-times-two channels that into the rest of the album as well.

Check out the mp3 below, and set your watches guys, cuz Migration creeps closer with each tick-takka.
