This year’s annual Coachella music festival will be serving up an all-you-can-eat buffet of rock, hip-hop and dance’s biggest and best, along with a number of under-the-radar gems and a few of our very own favorites. Coachella organizers recently unleashed the festival’s full line up, boasting headlining spots in the form of Paul McCartney, The Killers and The Cure. Besides these ridiculously huge artists, several Rind regulars made the cut. This fusion between old rock legends, modern giants and the next generation of popular sound is what sets Coachella apart from your typical, run of the mill music festival.
Day one (Friday, April 17th), is populated by a number of solo artists, but also includes Brooklyn’s indie rock storytelling darlings The Hold Steady. Electro-pop Portuguese Buraka Som Sistema will also be lighting the stage up, treating listeners to their unique offering of “progressive kuduro” tunes.
On day two (Saturday, April 18th), Canuk Club/Electro duo MSTRKRFT will be ripping it up on stage and will most likely feature cuts from their mesmerizing new release Fist of God, due out March 17th via Dim Mak. We here at the Rind can’t get enough of it. That very same day, you can expect to get a heavy dosage of psychedelic pop-rock via Dr. Dog, the Philadelphia-based group whose latest effort, 2008′s Fate, garnered them much in the way of hubbub. The Bloody Beetroots (also on Dim Mak) round out the very Rind day, bringing their collection of club-heavy dance beats to California audiences all the way from glorious Italia. Day 3, and 2009 Dr. Dog dates after the jump.
