Three of our favorite bands are streaming on AOL Spinner this week!
Two former members of Panic! At the Disco team up with The Young Veins to release their first classic rock-tinged album Take A Vacation!
Vocalist and songwriter Liz Fullerton and Jedi Mind Tricks’ Stoupe have joined together to form the band Dutch, and after working for almost three years, the duo is proud to release their ten-track debut, A Bright Cold Day on Enemy Soil.

Debut album Wild Smile from the Brooklyn, NY band (and Frenchkiss Records’ most recent signings) Suckers, features lively guitar-pop melodies and standout singles like, “A Mind I Knew” and “Black Sheep.” Purchase it directly from the band here to get two exclusive bonus tracks.

Passion Pit has launched a remix contest for a still-under-wraps track from Manners, offering up stem snippets of “Little Secrets” nearly a full month before the album’s release. Frenchkiss Records will release the debut full-length from Brooklyn island-indie ragamuffin Sean Bones (nee Sullivan) on July 21st. What started last summer as the musical component to a lighthearted fashion line quickly morphed into a full-fledged project for Sullivan. As he patiently awaited the release of his former act Sam Champion’s Heavenly Bender, Sullivan dove into the studio to create a solo single he would package with the swim trunks he’d created for his own S/S FRIENDS line. A RCRD LBL rave, and a single show later, Sean Bones suddenly became Frenchkiss’ latest signing, joining the ranks of San Francisco’s Dodos and Boston’s Passion Pit, not to mention founders Les Savy Fav.

Disappearing into the studio with Jay Braun, who’s also worked with the Stills and Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Sean Bones would create what is sure to be one of the most distinctive records of the year, a song cycle that runs the roots gamut from the sturdy rocksteady groove and sly Phil Spector nods of “Cry Cry Cry” to the myriad twilight zone passages of “Smoke Rings,” a song that isn’t afraid to drop bits of Afrobeat, reggaeton and disco on its way to your summertime-in-the-city playlist. And then there’s “Turn Them,” a duet with the Grammy award winning Norah Jones, who Sullivan stars opposite in a forthcoming film.

Digital crate-diggers, HEAR YE!
In 2008, dost thou only listen to music released in 2008? (NO!*)
Dost thou listen to music issued in other decades, perhaps even The Nineteen Eighties? (YES!)
Dost thou discovereth music after yon peers hast discovered it, and you’re all embarrassed when they declareth it “so last year?” (SOMETIMES!)
BE NOT EMBARRASSED.
These are 30 albums that we discovered and freaked out about in 2008. Some are old. Some are new. Some are reissues, so they’re old *and* new. All are 100% wizard.
