2019 Americana Music Awards: John Prine Does It Again

2019 Americana Music Awards: John Prine Does It Again

The Tree of Forgiveness has proven to be a record worthy of continuous recognition along with its creator, the one and only John Prine. Produced by another impressive musician particularly in the Americana sector, Dave Cobb, the album has amassed multiple Grammy Nominations, secured two A2IM Libera Awards and now, another pair can be added to the list of accolades following the Americana Music Awards.

The founder of Oh Boy Records was honored at last night’s annual awards in Nashville for the second year running. In 2018, Prine took home Artist of the Year and followed it up this year with Album of the Year for The Tree of Forgiveness and Song of the Year for “Summer’s End.” The musical legend has already been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2015, was nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for 2019’s class and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame earlier this summer.

But Prine’s not the only one from Thirty Tiger’s roster of artists to win an Americana Award this year. The duo in both career and life, Michael and Tanya Trotter, better known as The War and Treaty were named Emerging Act of the Year. The two began as songwriters and met at a festival where they were performing separately. They fell for each other shortly thereafter and haven’t parted since. The power couple wow crowds wherever they go with their soulful and thought-provoking songs.

Congratulations to all of those nominees and winners. The best part…Americana Fest isn’t even over yet!
