Introducing Joey Lafyatis, Account Manager, Performance Rights Services
Hi, all — my name is Joey Lafyatis and I’m joining The Orchard as an Account Manager with the Performance Rights Services team.
Despite the Greek last name (thanks dad), I was born in France (thanks mom) and moved to the Boston suburbs at a young age when my he had given up learning French. I initially attended Northeastern University for Music Composition but graduated with a degree in Music Industry with a Business minor. I worked with a number of music start-ups and small businesses in Boston before accepting a data position with HFA / SESAC in New York to try out the big city, corporate thing. I accidentally fell in love with the music metadata space and I’m excited to leverage some self-taught SQL to poke around and learn more about The Orchard’s database infrastructure.
I’ve developed an undeniable love for hot black coffee, have comically poor balance, and never used music to rebel against my parents in middle school. Here’s a short playlist and picture of me.
