Introducing Maïté Alvarez, Film Acquisitions Coordinator
My name is Maïté and I’m new to the film acquisitions team in LA! I moved from NYC a bit over a year ago and am thrilled to be working at The Orchard and also to have gotten to cut down on my commute by an hour and a half a day.
I was born and raised in Miami FL, and graduated from Northwestern University where I majored in Communications and Religion. Just a couple of months ago I was working as an assistant in the Global division at WME which handles independent film sales, packaging and financing. Not long before that I had a 5 year stint as an actor in NYC where I was trying to live off of doing theatre (whoops) and waitressing at a little hole in the wall in the west village called Westville.
I love movies that make me cry a lot or that challenge the way we look at the world in some way. My favorite ones tend to be foreign: OPEN HEARTS, GETT, THE PIANO TEACHER and BREAKING THE WAVES are on the top of my list.
