  • Voting Members – Voting members must be credited professionals with at least 12 commercially distributed, verifiable credits (5 of which must have been released in the past five years).
    • All referenced credits must be commercially available in the United States, either through recognized online music retailers/streaming services (defined as paid, full catalog, audio-only, on-demand streaming and/or limited download subscription services) or physical distribution retail stores.
  • Professional Members – Professional members must prove that their primary career is in direct support of music creators. (E.g. Label executives, managers, booking agents, etc.)

  • Recording Academy members can log in to their membership profile to submit a recommendation.
  • Non-members can submit their recommendations here.

4) Once both recommendations have been received, you will be prompted via email to fill out a candidate profile detailing your accomplishments and contributions to the music industry.  Your completed candidate profile must be submitted by March 1.

  • You DO NOT need to be based in the United States to be a member of the Recording Academy
  • Members and Non-Members of the Recording Academy are only permitted to make two recommendations per year.
  • If you have been nominated for a GRAMMY® Award within the previous five years, your credit requirement is waived. If you are a current year’s GRAMMY nominee or winner, no recommendations are required.
