Seeing Orange: The Orchard at Roskilde Festival

Seeing Orange: The Orchard at Roskilde Festival

In the first week of July, the 49th edition of Roskilde Festival took place on a field outside of Copenhagen. Roskilde is the largest festival in Northern Europe and was visited by over 130,000 guests and volunteers this year. Roskilde promotes diversity covering a vast range of music genres such as rock, hip hop, metal, urban, electronica and world contemporary music.

The Orchard was proud to see over 30 acts from our distributed labels, with team members from both Denmark and Norway taking part in this popular music event.

Before the official program began, selected acts had the opportunity to share their talent in front of a dedicated, music-loving, festival crowd. Our personal highlights include Rebecca Lou, who recently released the track ‘No Surrender’ via We Are Suburban. Although the festival was hit with rain, Rebecca’s bada** attitude shone through and made the crowd forget about the not-so-ideal weather conditions whilst dancing along and even joining in on the mosh pit.

Additional highlights include Selma Judith (who took a stand against censorship) and grime legend Skepta, who amazed the crowd with his superior and flawless performance. The Norwegian experimental band Ulver also made a rare performance for an eager audience.

As always, we invited labels and partners to join us for orange juice and vodka at Stauning Baren in ‘Backstage Village’ where we spent a lovely afternoon in the sun reveling in our favorite event of the summer.

The Nordic team is already looking forward to next year’s 50th Anniversary of Roskilde Festival!
